Jojoba Oil – Jojoba is a golden liquid wax (often called jojoba oil) that is made from the jojoba bean.

Research has confirmed that the wax ester produced by the jojoba bean is similar to the protective wax produced by human skin that helps keep it smooth, supple and maintaining moisturise levels.  Jojoba mimics the skin’s natural oils and can penetrate deep into the skin layers.  This is what gives jojoba its unique ability to penetrate deep into the skin.

This wax has a chemical structure that resists oxidation that which causes rancidity in other plant oils.

The role of a wax ester is that it controls moisture levels in the skin, making it an ideal inclusions for our moisturiser. Our skin has microscopic glands that secrete an oily/wax matter called sebum which lubricates and waterproofs our skin and hair. It provides softness and flexibility to the skin.

Golden jojoba has a very similar chemical structure to sebum and imitates its functionality.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is a popular medicinal plant that has been used for thousands of years. Aloe vera contains powerful antioxidants, which belong to a large family of substances known as polyphenols. The aloe vera plant is about one or two feet tall with prickly and bitter leaves, which act as a defence to keep animals and insects from feeding on the plant. The leaves hold a gooey translucent gel, also extremely bitter, and known all over the world for it's unbelievable healing properties. This translucent gel is made up of around 96% water, some organic and inorganic compounds, a type of protein which contains 18 of the 20 amino acids found in the body and lastly, Vitamin A, B, C and E. Another part of the aloe vera plant which is used is the 'sap', a yellow-coloured liquid stuck to the skin of the plant from the inside. It can moisturise the skin without making it greasy, which makes it a great buy for those with oily skin.

Licorice Extract

Helps slow the signs of premature ageing. Soothing and nourishing for dry damaged skin. Calms the irritation of dry skin and assists with regulating the sebum layer of skin. The syrupy juice from the herb's root contains beneficial plant sterols, which promote skin elasticity and fight inflammation and wrinkle formation. Licorice extract also contains glycyrrhizin, an acid that plays a role in increasing steroid hormones that naturally occur in skin.

Seaweed extract

Our Seaweed contains the extract of Fucus vesiculosus L. plants prepared in water and propylene glycol. Seaweed used for our extract is mainly cultivated in Brittany/France. The plants are dried, if necessary com-minuted, extracted with a mixture of water and glycols and filtrated. The filtrate is concentrated by distillation. The concentrated extract is prepared in a mixture of water, propylene glycol and clear filtrated after an individual ripening time. Seaweed Extract is rich in vitamins and minerals and helps to soothe, soften and reduce skin sensitivity. It also protects and maintains skin's natural balance.

Cucumber Extract

Cucumber extract contains high levels of polysaccharides, polyphenols, glycosides, vitamins, amino acids, and minerals, all of which offer superior skin qualities to our moisturiser. Cucumber extract contains anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, all of which will assist with the reduction of redness and inflammation, so it can be considered soothing. It contains astringent ingredients, which will make skin feel tightened after use. Cucumber extract contains polysaccharides to create a light gel like layer on our skin that keeps water in and reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL)

Olive Squalane - This clear, fluid oil has a natural affinity with the skin, being one of the main components of the sebum and the hydrolipidic film.

It is a polyfunctional product with qualities for spreadability, skin absorption. It prevents moisture loss and restore the skin suppleness and flexibility.

Its soft, silky, non greasy touch, its total stability and complete inocuity makes it an irreplaceable base for high quality cosmetic emulsions.

Physically, squalane is a colourless transparent oil, with no odour, totally stable and perfectly adapted to cosmetic and pharmaceutical preparations.

The high interest of squalane in cosmetics is essentially based upon natural compatibility with the skin, total non-toxicity, very high level of stability, pleasant and silky feel.

From a dermatological viewpoint, the major characteristic of squalane is its excellent quality as en emollient (softening agent). Based upon its natural affinity with the skin, squalane penetrates easily without leaving a greasy feel, and at the same time gives the skin a soft and silky feel. This affinity comes from the fact that squalene is the principal hydrocarbon of human surface lipids amounting up to 15 % of total surface fat.

The main site of squalene synthesis is in the sebaceous glands.

Squalene is one of the key components of the sebum and the hydrolipidic film, which is responsible for integrity and healthy appearance of the surface of the skin.

The outer layer of the skin consists of a complex mixture of lipophilic and hydrolipidic components. These act as a permeability barrier, protecting against invasion of micro organisms as well as preventing moisture loss.

It maintains the skin flexibility and suppleness.

When applied for the skin, squalane spreads very easily and forms a protective film which limits dehydration whilst allowing and even improving respiration of the skin.
